Who wants to keep oil prices high?

guess who is behind the "scientists" who deny global warming?

Dear Editor:

America needs “technological breakthroughs…to confront the serious challenge of global climate change.” Alarmist tripe of left wing tree huggers like Al Gore? Hardly. That call to action came from George W. Bush’s 2007 State of the Union address. So how does Cal Thomas get away with writing that there is a serious debate as to whether or not global warming exists? Sure, the oil and coal companies managed to hire a few corrupt “scientists” with hundreds of thousands of dollars to muddy the waters long enough to forestall energy saving alternatives that would cut into their profits. They paid Dr. Robert Balling $300,000 and Dr. Patrick Michaels $200,000, first to deny that global climate change was occurring, then to claim that humans weren’t a significant cause, so we shouldn’t try to do anything to reverse the process. Some hacks, like Dr. Siegfried Frederick Singer, have worked for both big tobacco (taking Phillip Morris’ money to deny that humans were suffering from second hand smoke) and big energy (collecting thousands from Exxon to deny global climate change).

There is no scientific debate as to whether or not the globe is heating up- even a lay person can tell by looking at time lapse photographs of the shrinking polar ice cap and melting ice sheets on Greenland. The real question is: why would newspapers like the Herald knowingly publish a Cal Thomas’ column which is nothing less than propaganda for energy companies that will lose billions if Americans adopt sensible energy policies?
